Eric Berthiaume, Organist
Eric works full-time with Groton Hill and helps with Music at the 7:30AM mass on Sundays. He holds a B.M. in Vocal Performance from the University of New Hampshire and a M.M. in Choral Conducting from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Eric comes to Sts. Mary and Joseph after working extensively as a Director of Music and Organist for various parishes in the greater Boston area for the last ten years. He is also heavily involved in the musical theatre community with 50+ credits as both a music director and performer. In his free time, Eric enjoys exploring local coffee shops and breweries, and going on adventures with his wife, Kelsey, and their goldendoodle, Catana. He is excited to work with us!
Anthony Mowbray, Pianist
Anthony Mowbray brings more than two decades of experience as a professional music teacher and performing musician to the masses he helps with. Although piano is his primary instrument, he is also fluent with guitar, bass guitar, drums, and ukulele. Anthony earned his degree in Music Performance from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. As an educator, His passion for teaching has led several of his students to regional piano competitions, auditions for prestigious music festivals ,and teaching careers of their own. In addition to private lessons, Anthony has taught and coached various ensembles, including chamber music, piano duets, and rock and pop groups.
Scott Ness, Organist and Choir Director
Scott Ness was born and raised in Methuen, MA and is a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Merrimack College and the Washington Theological Union. He served for many years in parish ministry, educational institutions and missionary work in addition to his extensive service in music ministry. Scott is excited to be involved with the Adult Choir (11AM Mass on Sundays at MQP) here at Saints Mary and Joseph Parish, and he looks forward to joining all of you in giving praise to God through the beauty of music. Our choir members have been singing Scott’s praises for his musical gifts and kind leadership. The Choir rehearses at 6PM on Monday evenings. If you’re unable to make a weekly commitment, please consider joining the “Open Choir Day” at 10:15am on the first Sunday of each month.
(Ka)Ren Wemhoener, Soprano
Ren (Karen) Wemhoener is a soprano from Dallas, Texas currently located in Boston. Most recently, they performed the role of Monica in the Medium with QSVI. Ren has premiered three roles: Landsis in Ourland by Paul Davies with the San José Chamber Orchestra, Blue Fairy in Pinocchio by Aaron Hunt, and scenes as Ariadne from Horned and Hidden Child by Mikaela McQueston. She recently earned her Masters in Opera at Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
While studying in Tennessee, Ren performed the roles of Adele in Die Fledermaus and First Lady in Die Zauberflöte with UT Opera Theatre and was a part of other productions such as Carmen, An Embarrassing Position, and L’Elisir D’amore. VolOpera, the undergraduate opera club at the University of Tennessee, gave them the opportunity to perform scenes, programs, and recitals, as well as leadership experience as president for the ‘21/22 season. Recent awards include first place at the National Student Auditions in 2019.
Ren Wemhoener is a published composer in Modern Music for New Singers: 21st Century American Art Songs Soprano Vol. 1, published by North Star LLC. Committed to composing, performing, and reimagining new works, she is an innovative artist working to revolutionize opera.
Dr. Joe Kish, Cantor (Baritone) 
Member of the SMJP community for 30+ years.
Member of many ministries in the parish over the years including Bible study, Divorce Care, Choir, Mass Lector and Cantor. Eucharistic Adoration, Knight of Columbus member. Former science teacher at St. Joseph Regional Catholic School for 6,7,8th grades.

--John Dignam, Music Ministry Leader at the 10AM Mass at St. Joe’s. John took a little time off in July/August 2025 to work on songwriting and such. He recently completed his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from UMASS Lowell’s Francis College of Engineering. John is continuing his studies at UMASS Lowell and is pursuing the Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. We are so proud of you, John!
--Congratulations to our violinist, Stephen Poirier and his beautiful wife Jess on the arrival of Jonah Christian Poirier. Jonah was born on Monday, January 13, 2025 and big brothers Ethan and Noah couldn’t be happier with the news. Welcome, baby Jonah! We look forward to meeting you!
--Pianist D.J. Cleavinger is a friend to our parish, having played for Masses at both MQP and St. Joe’s during the summer months as well as Easter and Christmas. He also performed at the patriotic recital last June. Since age 14, DJ has served in churches as pianist, organist, and vocalist, and is currently the Director of Traditional Music at Faith Lutheran Church in Andover, MA. He is an avid reader, a lover of languages, and a frequent collaborator, enjoying both instrumental and vocal opportunities. He is currently completing his Master of Music in Piano Performance at Boston University.
